LAFCPUG Meet on Wednesday March 24
March 16, 2010

From LAFCPUG honcho Michael Horton:

LAFCPUG meetings are sponsored by ProMax.

Get out of the house and into LAFCPUG!

The next meeting of the LAFCPUG will be Wednesday March 24, 2010 at the Gallery Theater in Hollywood.

When was the last time you thought about your storage? Probably when you started running low on space or more likely when your drives didn't spin up. Storage systems have come a long way and the boys from ProMAX are going to take us through a brief technical history and a show and tell on Storage for Video Editors Today. Whether you are still editing on Firewire, have a multi-seat XSAN installation, or are curious about ISCSI, SSD and Light Peak, you will walk away with something you can use from this discussion. Storage is a changing.

Larry Jordan returns and will show us some tips and techniques on making your video look like film. Think you know it all? Think again.

Less than 7 weeks ago, three young filmmakers set themselves a unique, and grueling, challenge: to make a 90 minute feature film – from initial concept to end of production – in just 30 days.

Marcin Teodoru, Tom Cole, and Aaron Grasso, had no crew, no budget, and no script, just an intense collective of energy, enthusiasm, and talent. They managed to rally over 70 industry professionals for the production and on December 20, 2009, 30 days after announcing the challenge on their Web site, they wrapped production on Closure.  Shot on RED, Closure is a dark tale of revenge and redemption. The team is currently in the middle of editing the feature. They will talk about the making of the film and show an exclusive clip from the movie.

Plus, we will do another round of Stump the Gurus, show and tells, and of course, World Famous Raffle. Also there will be time for you to get up in front of everyone and say what you need to say.

LAFCPUG generally meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month Meetings are open to anyone and everyone, beginners through advanced.
